Steven Lopez is a columnist that who works for the L.A times. Lopez wants something more on the other hand. Mr. Steven Lopez having made many articles for the L.A times he searches for a story like no other hoping to catch the peoples attention. One day he hears music coming from Pershing squares. Unknowing of what or who was playing this amazing melody he decided to investigate. Soon he found himself standing before a homeless man, playing the Violin with only two strings. Mr. Lopez was very surprised for he had never heard someone with such an amazing talent. Mr. Lopez asked him for his name and he responded Nathaniel Anthony Ayers. Nathaniel studied at the university of Julliard a very good school known for it’s music. Mr. Lopez was very fascinated, how could someone with that much talent such as Nathaniel end up on the streets. The answer was that Nathaniel was suffering from Paranoid schizophrenia, which is when a person loses touch with reality, start hearing things that aren’t real.

Chapter summary 6-12
Ragins also suffers from the same disease that Nathanial has therefore he was able to related to him more that Mr. Steve lopez. During these chapters Nathaniel finally goes to Disney hall. Nathaniel always wanted to visit this location. Steve Lopez realizes that he is actually getting comfortable with the people around him as if nothing was wrong. Music was the only thing that matter to Nathaniel, and through music he used it to communicate with anyone.

Chapter 13-19
- In these chapters the mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa wanted to visit Skid Row. Upon seeing how bad conditions were, he felt that he needed to do something about it. The conditions that homeless people were facing was to much. Another event that occurred was Steve Lopez trying to get Nathaniel to go to Lamb. The reason why Mr.Lopez couldn't get Nathaniel to attend, was because he was lacking trust. Nathaniel didn't trust mostly anyone that was at Lamb, but Mr.Lopez finally with the help of Peter Snyder the man who Mr.Lopez met at Disney hall asked if he could teach Nathaniel, He didn't want his talent to be wasted. Mr. Lopez used that time that he had to find Nathaniel's father and when he did he found out that his father still misses him.

As time progressed Nathanial started to change more and more he was spending less time in the streets and more in his apartment. Mr. Lopez was really glad that he could help Nathaniel. He decided to have and early Christmas celebration and giving him gifts. There is still one problem with Nathanial he is verbally disrespectful and Mr. Lopez wonders how he can change that into a positive thing.

Chapter 27-31
Another major event was the arrival of Nathaniel's sister Jennifer, she finally decided to visit Los Angeles. Mr. Lopez showed Nathaniel's sister the sites where he would sleep and other tourist attractions. Last but no least Nathaniel was given a huge surprise by his favorite composer Yo-Yo-ma.
